PEDS For Professionals

We have two different options for using PEDS electronically:

1. Offline

Offline, electronic PEDS, provides digital versions of the PEDS Forms. There are click boxes on the Score Form and space to type comments on the Interpretation Form. The Response Form can either be interactive (so that parents can type comments) or printed out (with unique patient identifiers) when paper-pencil self-administration is still needed in waiting or exam rooms. The printable Response Forms (in multiple languages) are scannable Acrobat files. The offline PEDS Forms are only available for use with electronic records. The cost is between $0.50 and $1.00 per administration depending on volume. 2. Online

Online PEDS provides automated scoring, generates a summary report for families, and produces referral letters, as needed, for sharing with other providers. The site can optionally be used with an electronic record system. Options for completing the Response Form include having parents go online to type in their concerns (e.g., at home prior to an appointment, via computer kiosks in the waiting/exam rooms, or by having staff administer PEDS by interview while typing in parents' comments). Results can be routed to the provider ready for the encounter with the subject. Scannable Acrobat files in multiple languages can be provided if paper-pencil self-administration is needed, although staff would need to type in parents' comments (in English only). Outputs can be customized including resource links, letterhead, and summary/referral letter content. The service also provides an interactive version of the Modified Checklist of Autism in Toddlers (MCHAT) so that providers can follow the American Academy of Neurology's recommendations for following broad-band screening failures with an autism-specific screen. The cost, with or without the optional MCHAT, is between $0.50 and $1.00 per administration depending on volume. Customization costs $500 which also covers the first five hours of programming time for assisting software consultants in creating the online interface.
