PEDS OEM Licensing/Administration Guidelines
1. If PEDS is administered along with other questions, including, but not limited to, questions regarding demographics, PEDS should be administered first in order to minimize order effects (i.e., excessive concerns are likely if parents have been prompted to consider other issues beforehand).
2. If PEDS is administered by interview, interviewers should be trained not to interrupt parents as they provide answers or to insert other questions, in order to best ensure accuracy and completeness of responses.
3. PEDS questions should not be reworded in any way. Maintaining wording best ensures that the validity of the research behind the measure continues in electronic, telephone, and/or digital applications.
4. PEDS is to be scored electronically, using FOREPATH's web scoring service. The electronic interface between Licensee's product and FOREPATH's web scoring service will be in accordance with FOREPATH's Web Scoring Service Technical Interface Specification. FOREPATH will recover the cost of this Web Scoring Service from users of the OEM licensee's products directly.
5. If PEDS is self-administered electronically and if one or more questions were not completed, the administrator of the test should re-administer it to families by interview in order to best ensure that literacy is not a barrier to accuracy. Alternatively, prompting parents to complete each item, should help ensure that all are answered.
6. If the Licensee's product detects that licensee's client/user does not have a valid FOREPATH end-user license (for example, if no license key has been entered, or the Scoring server returns an 'invalid license' or 'license expired' message), Licensee shall display the following notice to the Licensee's end user:
Use of the electronic PEDS screen requires that you have a current valid end-user license agreement with the publisher, Forepath, Ltd. Please contact Forepath on 717-873-1904 or at www.forepath.org/profcontact.php so this feature can be activated in your system.
